Council 62: An Important Message from Council 62

AFA Disaster Relief for Colorado Flood Victims and NGP Insurance Enrollment for EWR.

Sisters and Brothers,

The following is important information for Members of Council 62:

AFA Disaster Relief for Colorado Flood Victims

We know that disasters can change lives in so many ways. While we can’t stop destructive events like the Colorado floods from happening, we can, as a Union, assist members in their recovery effort.  After September 11th, AFA established a disaster fund to aid our members who were placed in harm’s way.  AFA members whose primary residence is in a federally-declared disaster area, and who have suffered financial loss and/or dislocation, are eligible for $200.00 from the AFA-CWA Disaster Relief Fund. It is a gift made possible by the generosity of your fellow AFA sisters and brothers.

A presidential declaration for individual assistance has now been declared in select counties in Colorado which has triggered the opening of the AFA Disaster Relief Fund. Individuals whose primary residences are in Adams, Boulder Larimer, and Weld Counties and have faced displacement, damage or financial loss are eligible for this cash assistance, as long as funds are available.

Follow this link for the application that a member must complete to be considered for AFA Disaster Relief Funds. If you have any questions about the application process, please call the International EAP office at 1-800-424-2406. The International EAP office will continue to monitor if other counties become eligible for assistance.  AFA will announce any additional eligible Colorado counties to the membership through www.afacwa.organd MEC/LEC electronic sources.

If you would like to contribute to the AFA Disaster Relief Fund to support your flying partners’ recovery, please visit  You can donate on-line or by check.

NGP Insurance Enrollment for EWR

Insurance Specialists will be visiting EWR for three sessions of on-site service and enrollment. This is an excellent opportunity to meet with a benefits counselor to address service issues, options regarding the short term disability rate increase, and to enroll in coverage. The office at NGP continues to help Flight Attendants on a daily basis, and they are aware that many of us would still like to sit face-to-face with an insurance specialist to discuss our options regarding these valuable programs available to us.

Specialists are in EWR: OCTOBER 4-10
                                         OCTOBER 13-18
                                         OCTOBER 22-28

Dates for additional NGP visits will be announced as they become available. Remember, even if you are in EWR on sit time or a lay-over but are not based in EWR, you can still sit down with an insurance specialist to have your insurance needs addressed.

In Solidarity,

Joey Guider
