Weekly News – October 11, 2012

Sisters and Brothers,

Airport Alert at Satellite Bases
It has come to our attention that Airport Alert pick up, via open time, is not currently offered at our Satellite Bases. The union is actively pursuing corrective measures by communicating with scheduling and the various base directors to insist on consistent treatment throughout all bases and consistent implementation of the contract.

AFA Membership Engagement Seminar
The AFA International is hosting a Membership Engagement seminar October 24th. This seminar is a great opportunity for members interested in learning more about the AFA, how it operates and how you can get more involved. Go to http://www.afacwa.org/Membership-Engagement-Form.htm for more information.

Mutual Trade vs Advertisement
Recently there has been some confusion about the difference between Mutual Trade and Advertised Pairing. Please ensure  you are utilizing the method which best suits your needs. In most cases, ADVERTISED PAIRINGS are simply a straight pick up (ie, there is no trip offered in exchange) DESPITE ANY NOTES OR COMMENTS. If you wish to TRADE your trip, please make sure you post it in the MUTUAL TRADE BOARD.

EAP Visit October 12th
Employee Assistance Program MEC Chair Rodney Hunter, Local Chair Susan Gosma and Vice Chair Professional Standards/EAP Trish Jones, will be in the IAH crew room to communicate to members the benefits and opportunities of our EAP team. Please be sure to stop by the desk and say hi. AFA EAP continues to be an invaluable opportunity for members to get the help they desire.
