Southwest Airlines is requesting that the City of Houston permit international travel out of Houston Hobby. IAH is a major international gateway supporting international commerce in the entire Gulf Coast region. These efforts could be eroded if an abrupt change reversing a 40 + year- old policy of keeping IAH as the sole international airport in Houston gets reversed. IAH is currently on its 3rd FIS building in 25 years, with a new state-of-the art facility ready to accommodate additional international traffic from new airlines. Current policy has helped grow IAH to a 5th place ranking in the nation ranking for international departures. International flying out of Houston Hobby could jeopardize IAH jobs, as well as curtail service that the entire region benefits from.

We will be lobbying the Mayor and City Council members on our views of the issue and the impact the proposal could have on us as employees. Make your voice heard! Please contact Ginny McDavid at 832-922-0362 or gsmcdavid@calafa.org to RSVP or for more information. Please leave your contact information and home address so we can schedule you with the appropriate representatives! At 2pm (Tuesday, 5/8) City Council convenes with testimony from Houston residents.
