Union Update – Dec. 23, 2011

Union Update – Dec. 23, 2011

Section 6 Letter

The company has been presented the official notification of our intent to resume negotiations on March 5, 2012 – per Section 27 of the Continental Flight Attendant Agreement. These are fluid times and we may change course – depending on future developments and prerequisites. It is more important than ever for each CAL Flight
Attendant to participate in the proposal process – please see your union representatives for proposal forms in any CAL base or print/submit online at calafa.org.

Proposal Process

The contract proposal window will remain open until Friday, February 10, 2012. After the window closes, your proposals will be sent to the CAL MEC offices in Chicago for screening. Each LECP will appoint Flight Attendants from their bases to participate on the Proposal Screening Committee. The screening committee is responsible for the tabulation of your proposals in Chicago. Each proposal will be entered into a database to create a quantitative matrix of your desires. Your participation is required because your proposals will directly influence the direction of single and joint negotiations.

Voting Rights

Your right to vote is essential in any democratic process – you will forfeit your right to vote on your next contract if you have not submitted your AFA membership form and paid your dues. Do not give away your rights and do not let others make critical contract decisions for you. Please see your local union representatives for the required
forms – sign up, pay up, speak up.

Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year

On behalf of your Continental Master Executive Council and Local Executive Council we would like to wish you and yours a very happy and safe holiday season. We look forward to next year’s challenges and we stand ready to fight for your desires and values – you have a voice and it will be heard.

In Unity,
